I offer a variety of clinic options and collaborate with the host/head trainer to create what will best support the equestrians who wish to attend. These range from smaller private clinics to larger clinics with auditor spots available. Topics have included managing fear and anxiety in the saddle, building mental toughness/resilience, increasing confidence, managing the inner critic and perfectionism, and more.
What does a Sport Psychology Clinic for Equestrians look like?
-
An in person 2 hour meeting where we will discuss and explore mental skills for riders based on common concerns that I see such as performance anxiety and perfectionism.
-
A very full day that starts with a lecture covering mental skills for commonly seen concerns including performance anxiety. Followed by 6 individual rides and a lunch break. The rides include specific, collaborative mental skills building for that individual rider that we will practice in real time.
Still wondering what that looks like? As an example: a rider who struggles with riding her dressage test in front of others due to a fear of judgement will be invited to ride that test during the clinic. We will discuss strategies she can practice in real time to help her manage that anxiety with live support from me to adapt the tools as needed for that rider to perform with less anxiety.
